Active Flag

St. Brigid’s National School are striving to achieve a physically active and physically educated school community with the aim of becoming more active, more often. As a school, we have enjoyed being active through the engagement of many fun activities.

This year, we aim to renew our Active School status and receive our second Active Flag. Staff and students are kept up to date with ASF initiatives and events with our ASF notice board.

Our Active School committee are always happy to get involved. They enjoy the responsibility of organising ‘active’ lunchtime activities along with helping out with the many other ‘active’ activities that have taken place throughout the year.

They organised a competition to find a suitable ASF slogan for our school. We believe that our winning slogan promotes a strong active message for our school community.

St. Brigid's Active School Slogan

'Get off that Seat and Move your Feet'

Active School Committee Members 2020/2021

We have had to change our committee process due to restrictions this year. As a result we now have two representatives from each class group to form our committee. These children can safely inform their class of upcoming events and can inform their class teacher of any active ideas that class members may have also. This is all carried out in a safe manner following guidelines.

Our Active School Committee Members 2018

All children require 60 minutes of moderate to vigorous physical activity EVERY day. 80% of Irish children DO NOT reach this target.

Active children:

-Concentrate and learn better

-Present fewer discipline problems

-Achieve higher test results

-Enjoy school more
